SUMMER ART CAMPS IN ALAMEDA

Are your tweens and teens looking for a new way to express their creativity this summer?  We offer week-long summer art camps for entering 5th to 10th graders. But these aren't your typical art camps.  Projects will be complex and challenging, designed for the budding artist who wants to explore new techniques and media, and has a passion for creating fabulous art!

Only 8 spaces are available for each camp, so please register early to reserve a spot!
 PAINTING AND MORE SUMMER CAMP
Instructor: Rachel Gingold
Painting, collage, mixed media, furniture painting and FUN!
  • Still Life or Animal Painting:  Students learn the basics of composition, foreground and background, light and shadow, and apply them to their own unique painting.
  • Landscape Painting:  Working from a photograph, students will learn to paint an amazing landscape. We'll spend time sketching ideas and then painting them on canvas.  Let’s see what happens…
  • Paper Collage:  Using a photo for reference, students will create a paper collage on canvas. We'll cover the basics of composition, layering foreground and background, and how to "paint" with paper.
  • Paint-a-Chair Day:  Students will bring in a chair or small piece of furniture and turn it into a unique and colorful work of art!  They'll learn the basics of adding color to a 3D functional object.
  • Other FUN projects may include:  Shibori tie dye, acrylic pouring, mandala rock painting, sign stenciling, mixed media creations and more!  We have lots of ideas and plenty of supplies to inspire endless creativity.

2019 PAINTING AND MORE CAMP DATES

  • Multiple week discount:  Take $20 off each additional week, up to three weeks.
  • Sibling discount: Take $20 off for a sibling participating the same week.

GUIDELINES

  • Campers need to bring a lunch, a snack and a reusable bottle of water daily.  (Lunch can be purchased next door at Blue Dot Cafe, or across the street at Chestnut Encinal Market.)
  • Each day after lunch, students will take a supervised 'walkabout' to surrounding areas near our studio.  Destinations may include the beach and local parks.

CANCELLATION POLICY

  • A minimum deposit of $150 is required at the time of registration with the balance due the first day of camp.  Fees may be paid in full at the time of registration.
  • $50 of the deposit is non-refundable.  The balance is refundable up to 2 weeks prior to the first day of camp.
  • Cancellation within 2 weeks prior to the first day of camp will incur a $150 cancellation fee.
Currently we can only process registration forms the old fashioned way.
Please click the button below to print out a registration form, scan & email it to info@artistichomestudio.com, pop it in the mail, or drop it off at 1910A Encinal Ave, Alameda.  You may also call us at 510-263-0337 to reserve your space in camp, but please make sure to turn in the registration form before camp starts.  Thanks!

I've been going to the studio and taking their summer camps for years! I loved the camps so much I even came back to be a counselor for a few years and continue to work with them! Rachel and JaYing are so welcoming and amazing at teaching art! You can really tell that they love what they do and are passionate about art. My favorite projects are always the furniture painting days because I get to bring in an old piece of furniture and completely transform it into something new and fresh!

First off, you will not find two more professional artists in Alameda who run a camp -- there is an ease about them, a laid-back style and a creative aura that makes this place a must-do camp destination for your kids!  My daughter had a horrible experience for several years at another local kids camp, but i didn't think there was an alternative and when I found out about Artist Home studio, I was willing to give it a try for her.  Today, my daughter told me that she loves the camp and that Rachel and JaYing are "real artists" and she is loving every minute with them.

The summer camp and art classes at Artistic Home Studio and Boutique are amazing!  My 8th grader attended two weeks of summer camp and loved every minute of it.  The teachers are fantastic--they really know how to work with middle school students and make art relevant and FUN!
